What does AVES mean?
AVES means (Amsterdam) Accordion Association Own Style.
AVES is not a virtuoso orchestra which plays the most difficult
pieces in
many even more difficult parts and voices.
For us playing nice music and entertain our public are our priority.
Our repertoire consists, for the
most part, of pieces that almost everyone
in Holland knows, can sing or hum: Amsterdam songs,
operetta melodies,
french musettes, evergreens, etc.
We rehearse every Monday evening from 7 pm till 10 pm. in The Gerhard House,
Slotermeerlaan 1, 1064 GX Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Brief history
The Amsterdam Accordion Association Own Style was founded on February 12,
1986 as AAV Osdorp. The name indicates that it was located in Amsterdam West,
Osdorp district. After a beginning with a handful of members, rehearsing in
the livingroom of the chairman, the association grew through the years and
AVES counts now app. 30 playing members.
Feel free to visit one of our rehearsels. The coffee and tea are always fresh!
New members
AVES is always looking for new members. If you know how to play the accordion,
join us. Did you play a (long) time ago and you donot have an instrument anymore?
No problem. The association can rent you an instrument.
